Fire

Fire
Safety Risk Assessment
|
A full inspection of the building or premises which will take note of the existing means of escape, the structural condition and potential for fire spread, fire resistance, compartmentation, fire suppression/warning systems and people at risk etc. The risk assessment is a requirement. It must be 'suitable and sufficient' and be carried out by a 'competent person'.
A risk assessment document will be provided which will discuss the general fire safety provision under separate headings in an easy to read format. The need for changes and/or additions (if any) will be highlighted on a Significant Findings/Action Plan page at the rear of the document together with suggested timescales for completion. If necessary these may be negotiated with the local Fire Authority. This document will ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. |

Specific Fire Safety Advice |
Discussing or negotiating with Fire and Building Control Authorities on clients' behalf. Production of fire strategies for new build projects. Inspection of plans and reports for Building Regulations approval.
Fire engineering solutions may be necessary to ensure compliance with the functional requirement of the Approved 'B' Documents relating to means of escape, compartmentation, fire resistance and access for the Fire Service.
Advice is also given to clients on individual fire safety issues such as pre-planning fire safety provision for relocations, extensions and refurbishments etc.

Fire/Smoke Alarm & Emergency Lighting Checks |
On-going assessment is also undertaken as part of a service which we provide for managing agents and private landlords who are unable to carry out their checks on fire/smoke alarms and emergency lighting in the common areas of residential and commercial properties.
The results of all checks are recorded in log books which are maintained for each property. At each visit the condition of the escape routes, signs and notices, door fastenings and firefighting equipment is noted to ensure all are in place and have not been tampered with.
